In the Oobunta case study, the citizens of the east African country did not suffer from gaming or internet addiction. Conversely, they need more technology for medical reasons to improve the citizens’ health and standard of living (86). However, one similarity they do have is that both Oobunta and other developed countries have health issues as a result of technology. Therefore, how much responsibility does the government hold in solving these issues? In Oobunta, the government appointed Dr. Mukami Ogola to be the Medical Officer of Health (9) and he is trying to get as many IT systems as he can for the hospital and clinics in Oobunta, however he is worried that he won’t receive all of the funds he needs to accomplish this (114). Conversely in developing countries, not a lot is being done to help aid those addicted to games and internet, with the exception being South Korea. South Korea has the highest rate of internet addiction in the world so the government finally stepped in and created a digital detox boot camp for kids addicted to games and internet. I believe South Korea was right in conducting these camps because if there is a relevant health issue in the country, the government of that country needs to step in and help its citizens regardless of what the health issue is or what caused it.
